Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Explains That The Green New Deal Doesn’t Ban Cows From Farting

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic superstar obsessively derided by Republicans, appeared on the ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ on Thursday to talk about the proposed “Green New Deal,” a much-publicized resolution to address climate change and economic instability in the country.

The Green New Deal has gotten a great deal of press lately, especially on right-leaning news organizations such as Fox News who claim it will ban everything from air travel to ice cream to cow farts. President Trump had publicly stated his opposition to the resolutions, citing these reasons.

Ocasio-Cortez flatly denied these concerns on Late Night, saying that the narrative surrounding the deal has been “manipulated.”

“They’re tying to say that the Green New Deal is about what we have to give up,” she said. “In fact, it’s a resolution to be more expansive. It is to be able to generate more and invest in working-class Americans.”

She further clarified that the Green New Deal is not actually a law, but a resolution. In other words, a commitment to try and do better on environmental issues.

Those weren’t the only rumors she dispelled during her visit. As an extremely popular political figure on the left, coverage on right-wing news organizations have quickly been devolving into conspiracy theory territory.

Watch the full interview below to see her explain that she isn’t, as recently claimed a planted “communist agent” or a “Manchurian candidate.”
