GB Sciences said it has opened its commercial cultivation center at Louisiana State University, which will enable the company to increase by fivefold its production capacity for the state’s medical cannabis program.

The announcement comes a month after GB Sciences settled a dispute with the state over the facility.

The company also said it is starting some final product processing after two harvests in its temporary “proof of concept” facility passed state requirements.

GB Sciences said last month that a limited amount of products will be submitted to Louisiana regulators by May to undergo testing and ultimately distributed to the nine licensed pharmacies around the state.

But MMJ products aren’t expected to be in full supply until this fall.
